C is a programming language developed by Dennis Ritchie at Bell Labs without any promotion from its company but its popularity increased day by day in its undergrund community.Because it was easy to understand and easy to debug etc.

It was used to make UNIX OS.

Later many languages evolved fron it like C++, C#, Java, Perl, PHP, Python etc. So it is mother of modern programming language.

Even now a days  it is widely used in programming.
